Drift Vol 14: Miami

Drift is a smart, well-designed, edgy magazine dedicated to coffee culture. Each semi-annual issue focuses on a different place, exploring the many ways coffee is enjoyed there. 

Miami is the focus of this issue, celebrating both its history as a young city founded in the 19th century and rising to prominence as a destination for Latin-American and Caribbean immigrants in the 20th century, as well as its more recent rebranding as a playground for artists and creatives. Both aspects of the city's identity serve to inform and influence its unique coffee culture. 

This Issue Includes: 

• A brief history of third wave coffee in the city, including local darlings Per'La, Deco, Panther, and Miami Coffee
  
• A feature on the Cuban Ventanitas¬†and the community they serve
• One author's relationship with a cafe that lasted longer than her two exes who have each owned it
• Two stories highlighting Panther coffee and its founders: one interview with their founders, another discussing how the neighborhood of their original location Wynwood, has grown and changed around the cafe.
• And of course, plenty of images of gorgeous Art Deco buildings and writing contextualizing their history in the city.¬†

Photography is a significant part of the magazine, showcasing both people and places, as well as the occasional pan dulce or darkly-filled cup.
